P5.The Social Impacts of ICT

The Social Impacts of the ICT has been changed in several ways. It has been changed on local communities of ICT. Nowadays people can speak to each other on face to face using the webcam which is inputted to the computer. Webcam captures your face on the computer and the other user can see your face as well. The webcam is a video camera. The webcam is connected to the computer with usb cable. You can talk face to face on social sites such as the Skype, MSN and Face book.

Also you can shop online which is called Ecommerce. This has also changed the IT. It is better for the people and the community to shop online on the PC rather than going to the shop and shopping there. Also when the shop is closed still the ecommerce is used. This is how the IT has been changed with the Ecommerce.

There are legal impacts on the ICT. The Legal impacts are copyright, plagriasm, and ownership. Nowadays people can get copyright images on the Internet. Also people can get copyright videos and upload it on their YouTube account. You can also do plagriasm on the computer which is banned. But still there is a technology for the school or college which can find out the plagriasm of the work.

Social Networking

What is Social Networking?

The Social Networking is a website on the Internet which brings the people together in a central location to talk gossip, share ideas, share photos, share ideas, share interests, share videos and to make new friends. There are lots of social networking sites these are facebook, bebo, Classmates, Twitter, Friendster, MSN, and Linked in, Yahoo Messenger, YouTube and Skype.

There are good things of social networking. These are when you keep in touch with your friends and families. You can talk to your friends through webcam. The social networking sites are free to social network with others. You can make new friends through social networking sites such as facebook, twitter and bebo. Also you can post about your achievements and about your interests.

There are bad things of social networking. These are when people cyber bully you. Cyber bullying is bulling on line. It is like when they swear at you on social networking sites, when they threaten you on social sites and also when they post an image of you on social networking sites. Also when people post unkind stuffs about you. They can hack your profile as well by writing rude gossips and messages. Also in social networking people use fake profile to hack your account.

Shopping Online

Shopping online is when you shop on the internet. This can be called in other words e-commerce. Online shopping is done when the user enters their credit card details when they want to buy something on the Internet.

The advantages of shopping online is you van shop easily and comfortable on the computer instead of going to the shop an purchasing there. So you can purchase your product so the internet. Also when the shop is closed you can still use the internet to shop online. This called convenience. You can shop anywhere you want. It saves your time to shop online instead of staying queued in the shops. You can also read the reviews about the products.

There are disadvantages of shopping online are when some sites are fake then the user enters their credit card details and then they get robbed. To avoid going to fake websites the user should check that the web site link is followed by https not http. Also the website has to be secure with the padlock key at the top of the website. Another disadvantage of shopping online is when the shipping cost is expensive. Also you cannot try the item you want to purchase before you want to buy it. Some sites has lack of customer service such when it takes the item to return to you for long.

Email Spam’s

Email Spam is when you receive an unknown message from people who you don’t know. In other words we say it is junk mail. It is referred as Unsolicited Commercial Email, junk mail or bulk email.  Spam use to send email without prior approval. This can be done when they promote a product to the user and to scam to get other people money when the user pays for the product. Spam is prohibited in some countries. When the user gets a spam email, the user must delete the spam message instead of reading it.

Viruses

It is a computer virus which is spread from one computer to others. The Virus slows down the computer. It is bad software for a computer. The virus causes by spreading it by other computers by monitoring the floppy disk which is inserted in the computer. When the floppy disk is infected the it would infect all other computers. Also users can remove the virus of computer by installing an antivirus

Malware

A malware is known as the malicious software. It is a program which is used to change user’s settings without of his or her permissions. It is deleting a competing programme. It also blocks software by working. It damages and disables the computer as well. The Malware disrupts the computer. Malware also steals other people business, financial and others documents.

Spyware

Spyware is a type of malware. It is installed on the other user’s computer. It is installed on the other user’s computer system secretly. The spyware sends information such as the user accounts, details or passwords. The spyware goes to other computers without permission. It is also known as spying. In other words it means that spying what other user is doing on their computer. This software is used to track other user’s computer.

File sharing sites

The users also share files with their friends. They share stuffs like videos, images, and podcasts and also they share news. These are the good things of file sharing sites and the users find it entertaining. Bu the negative reason of file sharing sites is that people can hack the profile of the users. Also other users can access your PC.

 

Phishing

Phishing is a common online fraud. It is very criminal to do it. It means trying to get other users details by pretending like a business administrator or teacher. Phishing is also known as scamming the users by sending emails or by creating web pages. It is used to collect an individual’s online bank account, credit card or user login details. This makes the user to enter their details so that others can pretend to be a business administrator. Phishing is used to deceive the user and to steal the personal information of the use such as password, login details, addressee, credit card and bank details. To avoid the phishing user should stop visiting unknown and radon websites otherwise they could be hacked. Secondly the user should never send their personal information through the email.

Computer Worms

A worm is a destructive and destructing software programme. The worm software includes containing code capable to gaining to access the computer or the network. The worm causes worst disaster to the computer such as deleting the files, modifying, distributing and also manipulating the data.  This became as the first internet worm. The worms can copy their self on other computers. Also the worms could clog the internet and these causes to grind to a halt. It is also known as the malicious computer programme.
